Description
Spine pad worn in India and Mesopotamia by Private John Hobson 1917-18. It consists of a medium brown-sand khaki quilted cotton 'bib' to hang down the wearer's back in order to protect from the fierce heat of the sun. Curved top edge becomes left and right attachment tabs each with 2 'button' holes. 3 'button holes each on lower left and right edge. Short, torn tape looped through left hole.
