The living conditions and climate made life very hard for soldiers serving abroard and some attempts were made to prepare them for foreign service. This old collection was used to inform soldiers. A framed key was originally displayed with these insects. Over the years the colours and distinguishing features of the individual creatures have largely disappeared, so the list is helpful, but unfortunately the descriptions are hardly scientific: 1. Black Scorpion 2. Red Scorpion. 3.Brown Scorpion. 4. A Monsoon Insect. 5. Black Centipede. 6. Blue Centipede. 7. Striped Centipede. 8. Tarantula Spider. 9. Snakes Eggs. 10. Blacke Crate Snake. 11. Bengal Flies (a) Ladybird, (b) Grasshopper, (c) Flying Ant. 12. Silver Crate Snake. 13. Lizard. 14. Hybrid Lizard. 16. Male Locust. 17. Myrapodder. 18. Boxer Fly. 19. Bengal Fly. 20. Beetles. 21. Shanghai Beetle. 22. Shanghai Night Beetle.
