Description
Infantry Officer's small sword. The sword has a plain brass stirrup guard leading to a multi-faceted, urn-shaped pommel with spherical tang button. Twin gilt shells with Acanthus finial missing. The grip is wound silver wire. the scabbard is black leather.

This is a typical officer's sword of 18th century pattern carried in the Seven Years' War and also the campaigns in Portugal and Spain in the early 19th century. The broken finial on the guard illustrates the somewhat fragile nature of these weapons.
