Description
Afghan Knife Kyber Salawar Yataghan or Chora, ‘Khyber Knife’ is the name given by the British forces fighting on the North West Frontier against various tribal groups who used this weapon, including the Mahsud, Pathans, Afridis & Waziris. In fact these weapons are short swords notable for the T-section blade. Hilt: diagonally grooved brown bone grips secured with 4 rivets either side of the tang, metal covered as the hilt broadens towards the shoulder of the blade. At the top the ivory has a beak shape pointing towards the cutting edge. Lanyard ring in butt is broken. Blade: straight single edged tapering blade of T-cross section with shallow grooves.
