Description

A blessing for troops proceeding to the Crimea, Crimean War 1854-1856. Crucifix and letter; the letter to the Pope from some English Catholic ladies ask him to bless some crucifixes and medals that English and French Catholic soldiers might carry whilst in the Crimea conflict and that they migjht benefit from a Plenary Indulgence. The paper is duly signed by Pope Pius IX confirming his blessing and indulgences. dated 3rd April 1855. A Crucifix is attached to the letter.
