Pistol, Revolver No. 1 Mark VI (after 1926). Webley & Scott Ltd. Birmingham made more than 300,000 of this model during the First World War. Even so, Britain still needed to import US made Colts and Smith & Wessons, and Spanish top-break revolvers. The Mark VI remained in use through the Second World war alongside the point 38 Enfield and their Webley-made equivalents. It was also made at Enfield 1921-1932. Webley revolvers were extremely rugged, tolerant of dirt and propellant-fouling. Accurate, and firing a heavy lead bullet, Webleys provided a trained user with a most effective, close-range. This example is in a leather Mark III holster.
