Boer flag

Description

A large dark blue triangular flag with a discoloured white circle in the centre. According to a handwritten label which accompanies it, it is a Boer flag captured at Constanse (possibly the modern district of Constantia), South Africa, 1900. It is in extremely fragile condition, with much of the material torn and missing, and the entire flag has been encased in netting for conservation purposes. It was presented to the museum in 1949 by Mrs McNalty, wife of Major McNalty.
