The name Colmans has been synonymous with Norwich and Norfolk since the start of the 19th century. The family, associated with mustard manufacture, have been a major regional employer and active supporters of museums and the arts. The object chosen here is an iron-tipped wooden mustard stamper once used by the company. Its function was to crush mustard seeds, which were held in iron-lined basins below.
