Description

Lower section of a long embroidered text made by Lorina Bulwer c.1901. This section has been cut away from the upper part at some point in the past, but the two pieces were kept together. The textile takes the form of a long embroidered letter, with applique figures at the top and references to Lorina's life throughout. At the time of stitching the work, Lorina Bulwer was resident in the female lunatic ward of Great Yarmouth workhouse.
