Description

Doll with porcelain head, forearms and lower legs, stuffed cloth body with a very small waist; painted features include black hair parted in the middle, moulded with bun and bead trimmings, blue eyes, red lips and cheeks, blue garters just below the knee and black shoes, ankle elastic front boots; original clothes consist of a white cotton chemise, white cotton knee length pantaloons, tucked and trimmed with Broderie Anglaise, white muslin waist slip with a large hem and tuck, pants and petticoat have stroked gathers and are fastened with linen buttons; brown shot silk dress, corded waist, elbow length sleeves, low neck, lace and velvet at neck and sleeves, wide band velvet round skirt, white glass beads at neck line, fastened at back with hooks and loops, red fine woollen cape lined with cotton and trimmed with black lace, mid 19th century
