Description

Doll with bisque head, composition limbs and stuffed buckram body. Face has blue glass sleeping eyes, thick painted brown eyebrows and long eyelashes painted all round, fair hair has been cropped short, head fixed turned to right. It has a white cloth stuffed body, dressed as a baby in chemise, flannel back skirt, white damask nappy, long cotton petticoat trimmed with lace and pintucks, gathered at waist, tied at back with tapes, underskirt and a long gown with puffed sleeves and central panel of lace insertions and tucks, cream crocheted bootees. It has marks on back of neck upside down horseshoe with EK for Ernst Heubach of Germany. It dates from about 1895.
