Petticoat in white tabby weave cotton, shaped waistband in double fabric with piped edges, full skirt tightly gathered into waistband, rows of horizontal tucks on skirt above deep flounce of broderie anglaise with design of circles and garlands, slit opening in right side for pockets, centre back opening, hand stitched, about 1854, inscribed Maria inside waistband
