Description

Fossil, Mammuthus meridionalis (Nesti) (southern elephant) fragment of upper/lower(?) left molar M3, not mineralised. The enamel is brownish/beige. The specimen is not in a good condition, it has been broken and restored and too much preservative has been used. Specimen still has much sediment matrix and shell remains. Found in iron pan/woody silt of Forest Bed age, after a scour at Bacton beach, NGR TG/351337, 10th March 1969
