Description

Doll, wax bust over papier mâché, very fine thick brown wig, real hair individually knotted into canvas, mounted on brown cloth, no ears, hair long and smooth in flat bun, brown glass sleeping eyes operated by lever at waist, cheeks tinted, edge of bust deeper pink; cloth of cloth feet gusseted on, seam at knee, lower arms white kid in form of gloves, upper arms cloth, body of white cloth contains eye mechanism; clothes include white cotton socks, pantalettes and chemise, stays, flannel petticoat, red dress with tucks, lace front inset, 1850s, purple velvet bonnet, blue trimmed black apron, black trimmed black spencer, black slippers, one missing; marks 6 on left foot and by the toe; clothes almost certainly later than the doll and early 1850s, probably redressed, doll about 1835
