St Laurence Church, Norwich

Norwich, with its narrow streets, gabled houses, courtyards, quiet charm and busy marketplace. David Hodgson was a proficient painter of architectural subjects. He painted architectural views throughout his career, and his drawings in particular demonstrate a lasting concern with the problems of perspective. His paintings and drawings provide us with the some of the most extensive evidence of nineteenth-century Norwich before photography came into use.
