Description

Fossil, Mammuthus sp. (M. trogontherii or M. primigenius) (elephantid) fragment of complete remains of upper right molar M3. Not mineralised, cover cement is preserved. The external enamel is black, grey or white in colour, the dentine is pale brown to beige, and the cement is pale brown/beige to pale red/brown. The sediment is an unsorted fine to course dark brown sand adhering to the crown and roots. Beach specimen from the Forset Bed at Mundesley, Norfolk
