Description
Doll, wax bust over composition, two layers, top one chipped, brown blown glass eyes, holes at nostrils, tinted cheeks, mouth possibly open showing tooth or teeth, eye brows painted, no ears but nails at each side, round head, virtually no neck, fair hair knotted into brown canvas wig, possibly goat hair, little remains, whole bust finely modeled and proportioned, empire bust line, limbs of canvas, well shaped legs, forearms kid stuffed, short canvas upper arms, body of canvas stuffed with saw dust, well proportioned, marked 8 on left foot; clothes include stockinette body stocking query over leaking canvas, white cotton chemise, liberty bodice, cotton stockings, lawn pantalettes, kid boots, exquisitely made, white organdie dress, lace trimmed, frill at hem, very fine tucks across bodice and at wrists, cream lace embroidered bonnet, clothes have been washed and hat repaired, about 1820
