Archidiskodon meridionalisNESTI

Accession Number NWHCM : 1907.45.9

Description

Fossil, Mammuthus meridionalis (Nesti) (southern elephant) complete remains of lower right molar M3. Could be M.trogontherii with thick enamel. This shows the advanced character of posterior plates bent backward; it is probable that this could also be a feature of some lower molar M3 of advanced M. meridionalis. Coalesced roots suggest the specimen is well worn and may have had more than 14 lamellae.; Quaternary, Pleistocene, Cromer Forest Bed Series, from Cromer, Norfolk
