Description

Waistcoat in blue/grey herringbone tweed, faded, with black cotton drill undercollar, sleeves and back; two pockets on front, one inside; high at neck, buttoned to top, with small round collar; shaping at bottom may mean waistcoat was worn underneath another coat or jacket as seen in photographs of farmworkers such as rabbit catchers; belonged to Horace Walpole Allen (d.1962), who belonged to the AOF in the Shropham / Hockham area; he was a horseman in Shropham before and after World War I and it is likely this garment was worn in association with this profession
